Macwesters are solid little ships, up on a par with the Westerlys of the time and regarded by many as a superior offering. This is a nice and tidy example, well used but well looked-after too. Amongst other virtues, this one is notable by virtue of its replacement engine, a Yanmar 2GM 20, which is just about run-in with less than 350 hours on the clock. Access to it is particularly good, not only from the front but also from directly above, via a big hatch in the cockpit sole. Additionally, she was converted to in-mast reefing around 2005, so the boom and mainsail dates from then too. Her furling foresail was new in 2000 and she has a cruising chute in a snuffer that has been flown only twice. Other notable features include a full cockpit tent with. Internally, there is plenty of space for a vessel this size, with the sociable dinette seating arrangement that was popular at the time and still makes a lot of sense. Lots of wood down below makes her snug, and the lovely round portholes give her a traditional feel. This is a very capable pocket cruiser that works well both at sea and in harbour.
